"One of the most pivotal moments in my life was attending Five Star Basketball Camp. Five Star was an elite national basketball camp where over 350 division I basketball coaches circled the courts of Robert Morris University annually. This is where I gained the attention of several college coaches that would later lead to my choice in college scholarships. It cost $400 to attend Five Star Basketball Camp, plus flight and travel. My parents didn't have the kind of money to send two kids to the camp, but life sometimes provides opportunities. There was a bad hail storm in Omaha, NE that spring of 1997. It damaged the roof of every house on our entire block. We were the only house in the neighborhood that didn't get a new roof that year....... I later in life found out how my mother was able to afford to send my brother and I to the basketball camp that changed the course of my life."

You don't have to be a basketball player to acknowledge that one seemingly insignificant moment where your life could have been significantly different. If you are among the few that can pinpoint that moment, you should be able to at least consider the fact that you may not have been as good as you think. There may have been someone else just as good, if not better at what you do, that just wasn't fortunate enough to have your "pivotal" moment. In order for us all to compete equally, there can be no "unfortunates." "HoopRank Communities" levels the playing field by providing financial support to youth sports organizations and families that cannot afford the fees associated with their sport. We also provide transportation services for families incapable of attending practice or sporting events. Mentoring services to ensure our players stay focused. Tutoring, because our ultimate metric of success is measured in college scholarships. Lastly, HoopRank Communities provides gear and equipment, because a player playing basketball in his "church" shoes should not be expected to compete at the same level as a player in his "basketball" shoes.
